Black History Month - A message from White Rock Mayor and Council.

Mayor-and-Council-2018-2022

Over 20 years ago, in December of 1995, the House of Commons officially recognized February as Black History Month, following a motion introduced by the first black Canadian woman elected to Parliament, the Honourable Jean Augustine. The motion was carried unanimously by the House of Commons.

As we head into February, let us take some time to learn about the important contributions of Black Canadians who have played, and continue to play, a huge role in enhancing the cultural and economic fabric of our city, our province and our country.
