Statement: Vandalism of the City of White Rock’s Rainbow Crosswalk

Statement from the City

The White Rock RCMP Detachment notified the City of White Rock of vandalism that occurred at the City’s rainbow crosswalk at approximately 12:15 am, Friday, August 3rd, 2018. White Rock City Staff were on scene at 6:00am this morning working to remove symbols and words. By 11:00 am, City Staff had cleaned the vandalism from the crosswalk.

The City is disappointed that such an act has occurred as the message of the rainbow crosswalk is to cultivate kindness, respect, and inclusion. This incident is under investigation and witnesses are asked to contact White Rock RCMP’s Detachment line at 778-593-3600.

White Rock City Staff were on scene at 6:00am working to remove the defaced rainbow crosswalk.
The rainbow crosswalk was cleaned by 11:00am this morning.
