Your guide to the White Rock & South Surrey Culture Crawl

Immerse yourself in arts, culture, heritage, and theatre across 25 locations at the White Rock & South Surrey Culture Crawl, October 5 & 6.  Here are our top five activities for your visit in White Rock.
 

1. Kent Street Programs

The Kent Street Activity Centre (1475 Kent Street) is a hub of free programs including dance workshops, wood carving demonstrations, sing-a-long parties, and art journaling 101. Secure your spot by pre-registering online.

2. Local Artist Groups

Experience the vibrant local art scene by visiting artists' studios during the Culture Crawl. Engage with creators, learn about their techniques, and view their latest works, including Turning by Winch (900 Dolphin Street), Sue Gibson Art (15392 Victoria Avenue) and Assemblage Artist (15356 Columbia Avenue) all located by White Rock beach.

3. Heritage

Explore White Rock’s rich history! Join Archives Manager, Hugh Ellenwood for his presentation, “Then and Now: A Pictorial History of Change and Growth in White Rock”.  Presentations will be held at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. in White Rock’s historic train station, the White Rock Museum & Archives (14970 Marine Drive).

4. Night on the Town

Celebrate Oktoberfest at Blue Frog Studios (1328 Johnston Road). Enjoy traditional German music, dances, and interactive performances, all in authentic attire, or enjoy a night of social dancing at the Saturday Night Dances at the Kent Street Activity Centre (1475 Kent Street).

5. Kids Programming

Bring the kids along to participate at the Kids Creative Corner at the White Rock Community Centre (15154 Russell Avenue) where they can make their own piece of art to take home or join in for a spook-tacular story time of DINOWEEN, the littlest dinosaur’s spooky Halloween story time at the White Rock Library (15342 Buena Vista Avenue).

Bonus - International Artists Day

Did you know that White Rock is Home of International Artists Day? Join 16 noted artists at the Nomad Gallery to celebrate the 20th anniversary of International Artists Day—a worldwide event honouring artists of all disciplines for their contributions to society on Friday, Oct. 4 from 7 to 9 p.m.
