Property Tax Notices will be mailed before the beginning of June. A 5% penalty will be levied to all accounts with outstanding balances on July 2, 2024 a further 5% penalty will be applied to accounts outstanding after August 15, 2024. The penalty is also applicable on the homeowner grant portion of your taxes. Home Owner Grants Submissions

Homeowners no longer apply for the home owner grant through the City of White Rock. Everyone now applies directly to the Province of BC using their new online system. Visit gov.bc.ca/homeownergrant.

Property Tax Payment

There are several ways to pay your taxes including online, at City Hall, in-person banking, mail or the secure drop box at City Hall. Find more information about property tax payment options.

The City of White Rock has a Pre-Authorized Pre-Payment Plan for Property Taxes. As a property owner, you may sign up for monthly automatic deductions from your bank account.

The Local Government Act requires the City to sell properties with three years of unpaid Property Taxes at public auction. Learn more about the Annual Property Tax Sale.

Property Tax Important Dates

July 15Deadline for 2025 Pre-Payment Plan applications.
August 1First Pre-Payment Plan installment for 2025 Property Taxes.
August 15Additional 5% penalty added to all accounts with outstanding balances. The penalty is also applicable on the homeowner grant portion of your taxes.
October 7Tax Sale on properties with unpaid 2022 (delinquent) taxes.
January 1, 2025Interest charges begin to apply to outstanding 2024 and 2023 taxes and levies. Arrears and Delinquent balances are subject to additional interest at a rate set by the Province.

Deferment of Property Taxes

Eligible home owners may apply to have the Provincial Government pay the current year’s residential Property Taxes for their principal residence. Learn more about deferment of property taxes.

Property Tax Exemptions

An organization must qualify under Section 224 of the Community Charter and comply with the City’s policies, plans, bylaws and regulations to be eligible for a permissive tax exemption. Learn more about property tax exemptions.
