Building Inspections

If you are a permit holder and are looking to book an inspection, please call the 24-hour Inspection Line at 604-541-2135.  

The City of White Rock’s Building Officials conduct inspections daily for Building permits. For typical building permits for a single family dwelling the following inspections are considered to be mandatory: 

  • Footing/Foundation Forms Inspection
  • Installation of Drainage/Prior to Backfill (drain tile, rainwater leaders, damp-proofing, storm & sanitary sewer outfalls, storm sump, water service)
  • Underslab poly inspection
  • Building Height Check / Angle of Containment
  • Exterior Framing/Sheathing (windows & deck membranes must be installed)
  • Framing
  • Insulation/Vapour Barrier
  • Building / Occupancy Final  

When you call you will need to provide the following: 

  • Address of the site;
  • Permit number;
  • A site contact name and telephone number; and
  • The type of inspection requested (i.e. framing, DWV rough-in). 

All inspection requests received prior to 3:30pm will be booked for the next business day. Staff cannot provide specific inspection times nor guarantee a time. Inspections occur each business day between 9:30am and 3:30pm. 

Plumbing and Sprinkler Inspections

The City of White Rock’s Building Officials conduct inspections daily for plumbing and sprinkler permits. If you are a permit holder and are looking to book an inspection, please call the 24-hour Inspection Line at 604-541-2135. When you call you will need to provide the following: 

  • Address of the site;
  • Permit number;
  • A site contact name and telephone number; and
  • The type of inspection requested (i.e. framing, DWV rough-in).

Gas & Electrical Inspections

Electrical Permits and Inspections and Gas Permits and Inspections are provided by the BC Safety Authority. They can be contacted at 866-566-7233. Their hours of operation are Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
