[ARCHIVED] City of White Rock buildings to reopen July 19

2021-07-City-Hall

The City of White Rock will reopen City buildings to the public on July 19 following direction from the Provincial Health Officer that encourages a transition to normal beginning July 1.

The Province of British Columbia confirmed on June 29 that B.C. was moving into Step 3 of B.C.’s Restart plan on July 1. This means that workplaces can begin to transition to a return to normal operations with health and safety guidelines in place.

In Step 3, all sectors will transition from COVID-19-specific safety plans to using communicable disease prevention plans based on WorkSafeBC’s guideline. Step 4, which is set to begin on Sept. 7, removes most restrictions related to COVID-19.

The City’s July 19 reopening date allows for the continued return to work for employees who are working remotely and provides time to develop and implement the new safety plans in line with WorkSafeBC regulation.

New Mask Guidelines

The City is putting in place new mask guidelines, as indicated in Step 3 of B.C.’s Restart plan. As of July 1, masks are no longer mandatory in the City of White Rock’s indoor public spaces but are recommended for all people 12 and older who are not yet fully vaccinated. Fully vaccinated means 14 days have passed since receiving a second dose of vaccine.

Mayor Darryl Walker
City of White Rock

“This is a historic moment in time as we move away from staying apart to getting back together. We look forward to welcoming residents and visitors to City of White Rock buildings and programs as we transition to the full opening in September, as the COVID-19 case count numbers allow.

On behalf of Council, I want to thank residents for doing an excellent job of staying safe, respecting COVID-19 pandemic rules and getting the vaccines as soon as they are available to you.

This is a wonderful, caring city and I so look forward to seeing people out on the streets a whole lot more."
