[ARCHIVED] Learn the magical Semiahmoo history of the iconic white rock on National Indigenous Peoples Day

Join Semiahmoo Chief Harley Chappell as he shares the oral history of “P’Quals”, the iconic white rock, in celebration of National Indigenous Peoples Day on Wednesday, June 21, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. 

The event will take place at P'Quals, located east of the Pier on White Rock’s east beach. View the map. This is a free community event, everyone is welcome. 

“I have had the privilege of hearing Chief Chappell share the oral history of P’Quals, which means “white rock” and is our city’s namesake,” said White Rock Mayor Megan Knight. “I hope everyone will take this opportunity to learn the Semiahmoo significance of P’Quals we celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day this year.”

For those unable to attend the event, a video of Chief Chappell sharing P’Quals’ Semiahmoo history will be shared across the City’s social channels and at the White Rock Museum on June 21.
