Canada Day message from Mayor and Council

This July 1st, people across the Nation will gather to celebrate Canada’s 152nd Birthday. Events commemorating the Country’s rich culture, history, and accomplishments will be held from coast to coast for everyone to enjoy.

We invite you to join us in expressing your Canadian pride at this year’s “Canada Day by the Bay” celebrations which will be hosted from morning to night along White Rock’s Waterfront from Memorial Park to Bayview Park at West Beach. City Hall & Facilities Closure


White Rock City Hall (15322 Buena Vista Avenue) and Engineering and Municipal Operations (877 Keil Street) will be closed on Monday July 1, 2019. We will reopen on Tuesday, July 2, 2019.

The City’s Recreation and Culture Facilities will be closed on Monday July 1, 2019 and will reopen on Tuesday, July 2, 2019.

Waste Collection Changes


There is no change in the municipal solid waste collection for the week.
Find out more about your waste collection schedule to make sure your bins are out on the right days for pick up.

Notice of Road Closures


Full road closures are required throughout the City to facilitate the SFN Canada Day ROCK 5K, 10K and Kids Run The run starts and finishes at Semiahmoo Park. Signage and certified traffic control people will be in place.

- The eastbound travel lane will be closed along Marine Drive between Lee Street and Parker Street
- No southbound left turn from Lee Street onto Marine Drive
- No southbound left turn from Parker Street onto Marine Drive
- Traffic control person will be at the intersection of Bergstrom Road and Marine Drive, and the intersection of Nichol Road and Marine Drive
- Delineators will be installed along the race route.
