[ARCHIVED] City closes pathway at Duprez Street, Coldicutt Ravine, following rainfall

Centennial-Park-Temporarily-Closed, Closure, Park, Trail

The City of White Rock has closed the pathway at the south end of Duprez Street until further notice following the extreme rainfall on Jan. 31. As a result of the rainfall, the path is covered with mud and there is a downed tree.

The City has also closed Coldicutt Ravine until further notice. City staff will return to the closed areas when it is safe to work on site.

Environment Canada reports an intense low pressure system with subtropical moisture will bring heavy rain to the Fraser Valley, Howe Sound, Whistler, Gibsons and Metro Vancouver from Jan. 31 to Feb. 1.

Total rainfall amounts for these events will be 100 to 120 mm for parts of Metro Vancouver.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Environment Canada encourages people to watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.

Find weather conditions for White Rock at Environment Canada’s website.
