[ARCHIVED] City responds to growing parking needs during White Rock’s restart

Parking lot at White Rock waterfront overlooking the White Rock Pier

The City of White Rock continues to modify its Waterfront parking to meet the needs of residents and visitors as businesses reopen or expand their services in Phase Two of BC’s Restart Plan.

On May 29, the City reopened the Waterfront Promenade and half of the overall Waterfront parking. The pay-parking limit was increased to three hours from two on the East and West Beaches and four-hour reserved resident parking was continued on the West Beach.

The City has added additional parking on the East Beach, effective June 3, 2020.

Resident-only parking: East Beach

Starting June 3, the City has designated about 60 spaces in the Cypress Lot near Grand Chief Bernard Robert Charles Plaza for White Rock residents. Residents with yellow decals from 2019 or 2020 can park for up to four hours.

Reopening paid parking spaces: East Beach

Also as of June 3, the City has reopened another 50 plus pay-parking spaces on the East Beach. The spaces are for public pay parking for up to three hours.

Mayor Darryl Walker

“During the COVID-19 crisis, it is important that the City of White Rock supports a safe, careful restart to our economy. Making parking available on an increasing basis is an important part of providing places to enjoy the outdoors while contributing to the success of our local businesses.

We welcome people to our City by the Sea to shop, dine, use services and buy items. We ask that you do so thoughtfully and ensure you keep a safe distance from people not in your immediate circle. We are all in this together and we will get through this together.”
