Pacific harbour seals, blue herons and sea stars (starfish) are featured on signage that reminds visitors to stay two metres apart from others while enjoying the natural beauty of White Rock’s Waterfront.
The two-metre signs are among those reminding people to stay apart from those not in their immediate circle. The three designs include the wingspan of a blue heron, the length of an adult Pacific harbour seal and the length of six sea stars in a row. The two-metre signs will be posted on Waterfront fences and smaller versions will be posted on Waterfront light poles.
The recommendation to increase visual reminders for safe distancing at White Rock’s Waterfront came from White Rock’s COVID-19 Recovery Task Force and was approved by White Rock City Council on July 27. In addition to the new signage, the City is painting dividing lines on White Rock’s Promenade and Pier to remind people to stay apart.
About the COVID-19 Recovery Task Force
The COVID-19 Recovery Task Force includes community representatives. It was established to help local businesses and social services during the COVID-19 pandemic and to prepare for White Rock’s reopening. The task force has a number of objectives, including providing information and education to the community.
