[ARCHIVED] National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Events on the Peninsula

Semiahmoo First Nation Flag Raising at White Rock City Hall, 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on the west side of City Hall near the cenotaph. Chief Chappell and members of the Semiahmoo Nation will lead the ceremony, followed with remarks from the Chief and the Mayor. The Semiahmoo First Nation flag will then be permanently raised at City Hall. City Hall is located at 15322 Buena Vista Ave, White Rock.

Walk for Truth and Reconciliation, 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. beginning at the Grand Chief Bernard Robert Charles Memorial Plaza (15400 Marine Drive) and proceeding to the Spirit Stage in Semiahmoo Park (15782 Marine Drive) from 2:30 - 4:00 p.m. Free parking is available at Semiahmoo Park.

Semiahmoo Ravens Jersey Unveiling and Auction, 7:00 p.m. at South Surrey Arena. Semiahmoo First Nation artist Roxanne Charles, has designed a jersey to raise funds in support of the Indian Residential School Survivor Society. Jerseys will be worn by the Surrey Eagles & Chilliwack Chiefs on Sept. 30 at South Surrey Arena (7:00 p.m.) and the White Rock Whalers on Oct 1 at Centennial Arena (7:30 p.m.) For more information or to place an auction bid on a jersey, visit semiahmooravens.ca

Che’ Semiahmah-Sen, Che’ Shesh Whe Weleq-sen Si’am (I am Semiahmoo, I am Survivor of the Flood) Exhibit at the White Rock Museum & Archives. Curated by the Semiahmoo First Nation, this exhibit explores the ways that the Nation has flourished since the Great Flood at the end of the last Ice Age. Exhibit runs until October 2, 2022, 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday to Sunday (closed Monday).

Orange Every Child Matters t-shirts, featuring Semiahmoo First Nation artwork, are available for sale ($25) beginning Monday September, 26, at City Hall, White Rock Community Centre, Centennial Arena, and Kent Street Activity Centre and on September 30 at Semiahmoo Park.
