From January 11 - 23, 2024, the City of White Rock is inviting citizens to review and comment on the 2024-2028 draft financial plan at www.talkwhiterock.ca/financialplan2024. Comments received will be summarized and shared with Council at the January 29, 2024, Regular Council meeting.
The 2024 proposed budget is based on a combined municipal, police, and asset improvement property tax increase of $262 or 6.14% to the average single-family home. For an average strata home, the increase is $98 or 6.14%.
When looking at the combined rate, including property taxation and utility charges, the net increase to the average single-family household is $403, or 6.47% over 2023.
This Draft Financial Plan prioritizes community needs, elevates service delivery, and reinforces Council’s strategic vision across six key categories:
- Community
- Housing & Land Use
- Infrastructure (Built and Natural Environment)
- Local Economy
- Organization & Governance
- Waterfront
The proposed increase reflects the high inflation rates being experienced across the nation, previously approved commitments, and a modest increase in asset improvement funding due to the need to grow capital funding for aging infrastructure.
