The City of White Rock is proud to announce that its Finance Department has been awarded the Government Finance Association’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its 2024 budget. This prestigious award reflects that the department met the highest principles of governmental budgeting, signifying the City of White Rock’s commitment to excellence and transparency in financial planning.
To earn this award, the City of White Rock met nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation, serving as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide, and communications tool.
“This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our Finance Department,” said White Rock Mayor Megan Knight. “It reflects our commitment to sound financial planning and transparency, ensuring that we continue to build a sustainable future for White Rock.”
In addition to the award, the City’s budget received special recognition for its strategic goals and strategies. This is given when all reviewers award the highest possible score in particular categories.
According to the Government Finance Officer’s Association, there are over 1,700 participants in the Budget Awards Program. Award recipients pioneer efforts to improve the quality of budgeting and are used as an example for other governments throughout North America.
