Help prevent road flooding by clearing leaves from storm drains

red and yellow leaves on trees, Fall season

The fall season is underway, which means additional rain and fallen leaves. You can help prevent road flooding in our neighbourhoods by locating storm drains on or near your home or business and clearing the drains of leaves and debris.

If you spot road or ditch flooding, submit a Request for Service online or call Engineering & Operations at 604-541-2181.

Green Collection

Yard trimmings and food scraps go in your green waste collection, which is collected by the City every week:

  • Each property can put out up to 10 containers of green waste (containers, kraft bags, bundles or combination) weekly for curbside collection
  • Yard trimmings, such as plants, flowers, grass cuttings, leaves and branches are allowed and can be combined with food scraps
  • Branches are accepted in tied bundles up to 7.5 cm (3 in) in diameter and 1 m (3 ft) in length
  • Bundles and containers must not block sidewalks, laneways or streets and can weigh no more than 50 lbs each. Sod, rocks, soil and plastic bags, even those listed as biodegradable or compostable, are not accepted.
