October 2024 Artist-in-Residence

Logaine Navascues is a Peruvian artist living and learning on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territories of the Semiahmoo First Nation and the broader Coast Salish Peoples, in current-day White Rock. She is a visual storyteller, whose creative practice combines writing, visual arts and bookmaking, focusing on the interplay between words and images.

Logaine has an MA in Children’s Literature from UBC and has written a middle-grade Graphic Novel and several picture book manuscripts, along with three artist's books: Epístola & Diástole (2006); Random Reflections (2009), and aWAY: a Pilgrimage (Vancouver, 2021). She also facilitates workshops for children, youth and adults at institutions across BC.

11 a.m. – 1 p.m. 

In these free, hands-on workshops, participants are invited to shape their stories and ideas by experimenting with words, images, form, and content. Drawing inspiration from artist’s books, visual poetry, collage, and graphic narratives, we will incorporate a variety of visual, verbal, and tactile elements to develop a new creative project each week, fostering connections through art-making.

Spaces are limited to 10 participants, and all materials are provided.

Aultos (18+) & Mayores Taller - Espanol

En estos dos talleres gratuitos, te invitamos a dar forma a tus propias historias e ideas experimentando con palabras, imágenes, forma y contenido. Usaremos libros de artista, poesía visual, collage y narrativas gráficas como inspiración para crear un nuevo proyecto en cada sesión, incorporando distintos elementos visuales, literarios y táctiles. Este es un espacio para explorar, crear y conectar.

El cupo está limitado a 10 personas y todos los materiales están incluidos.

Childrens Workshop (9 - 12 years old)
Thursdays, October 3, 10, 17, 24
4:30 – 6 p.m. 

In these free, hands-on workshops for children aged 9 to 12, we will play with words, images, form, and content to shape stories into zines, comics, and other unique book forms. Each week, we will create a new project and discover new ways of connecting through art-making.

Spaces are limited to 8 participants, and all materials are provided. Parent supervision is required.
