Delegations
The Chief Executive Officer of UNITI provided an update on Harmony, an affordable and inclusive housing project in the nearby South Surrey area. View the presentation.


Bylaw Updates to Support Low-Level Planting and Minor Encroachments On City Boulevards
Staff brought forward a report outlining changes to three (3) city bylaws after Council's direction to allow minor planting and new minor encroachments through encroachment agreements. 


Johnston Road and Thrift Avenue Public Art
Council approved the concept design for a public art piece at Johnston Road and Thrift Avenue. Work on the art piece is expected to be completed by fall, 2024 and will work in conjunction with the Johnston Road Phase 2 project. 


Funding Request for White Rock P’quals Promenade Sculptures Competition 
Council received a report regarding the White Rock P'Quals Promenade Sculptures Competition, which was organized by the White Rock Events Society. Based on a recommendation made by the Public Art and Culture Advisory Committee, Council directed staff to research other sculpture competitions in the area and to provide different options for various operating models with different levels of City and community involvement and funding levels.
 

Update to Exempt Compensation Policy No. 403
Exempt Compensation Policy No. 403 was adopted as circulated On-Table.
 

Public Art and Culture Advisory Committee Recommendations
Council supported recommendations brought forward by the Committee regarding:

  • Approval of a street banner program and style design. Council authorized the release of $10,000 from the Public Art and Placemaking budget for this project.
  • Approval of priority spaces for placemaking/ public art installations within the Johnston Road Phase 2 Project with an ocean/sea theme for the project. Council authorized the release of $30,000 from the Public Art & Placemaking budget for this project.


The next Regular Council meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 11, 2024.
