Giant Hogweed is a non-native invasive plant that may be found in White Rock. It can cause considerable injury to people and is a serious threat to the natural ecosystem. It can reach a height of 15 feet and has large blossoms of numerous white flowers clustered in an umbrella-shaped head that can grow to more than two feet across. Direct contact with any part of the plant should be avoided as it can cause severe burns when it comes in contact with human skin.
City staff are monitoring public lands for any signs of Giant Hogweed and are asking for the community's help to identify and eliminate Giant Hogweed in White Rock.
