Sunglasses or raincoat? Flip flops or boots? Take the guess work out of planning your day in White Rock and check out the City’s new live streaming Pier Cam.
The Pier Cam allows you to check what the weather looks like and take a peek at where the tide is before stepping foot outside. The single shot camera is mounted outside the White Rock Museum and Archives and does not record footage.
The tourism industry plays a significant role in the community and raises public awareness that White Rock is an attractive place to live, work, play, and visit.
City Council recently approved the White Rock Tourism Strategy and Implementation Plan 2016-2020 recommended by the local Tourism Strategy Task Force. The Task Force was formed in early 2015 by Mayor and Council for City staff to collaborate with community stakeholders and develop a five-year strategy and implementation plan that improves tourism service delivery and related economic activity.
The Tourism Strategy provides recommendations on funding and governance for the delivery of tourism services, including destination marketing and visitor information. These recommendations have been customized to White Rock’s unique situation, but were developed following a review of best practices case studies and transferable lessons from other successful tourism destinations.
The City is pleased to further support this long-term strategy with a City-run pier camera. The camera enhances the opportunities for the local business economy to show off their spectacular views of Semiahmoo Bay.
