The International Board of Directors of the International Ozone Association (IOA) elected Dr. Saad Y. Jasim as the “President-Elect” for the International Ozone Association, starting January 1, 2018, to December 31, 2019. On January 1, 2020, Dr. Jasim will begin his term as President of the International Ozone Association.
Dr. Jasim is the Manager, Utilities, at the City of White Rock and oversees the City’s day to day water operations and the large-scale infrastructure and research projects associated with the Total Water Quality Management Plan. He has been instrumental in leading the City’s research on secondary disinfection and treatment processes for the reduction of naturally occurring arsenic and manganese in White Rock water.
Since joining the City of White Rock in 2016, Dr. Jasim has overseen many water-related milestones for the City, such as the completion of the Merklin Reservoir and Pumping Station. Dr. Jasim also spearheaded studies with RES’EAU WaterNET which are focused on identifying the best technologies that will provide a significant reduction of arsenic and manganese, and provide quality water.
Dr. Jasim is the first Canadian to be elected president of the International Ozone Association.

The International Ozone Association (IOA) was formed in 1973, a nonprofit educational and scientific organization dedicated to the collection and dissemination of information on, and promotion of research in, any and all aspects of ozone and related oxygen species technologies.
The International Ozone Association consists of 3 regional groups, the Pan American Group (PAG) that serves all of North, Central, and South America, the Nippon Islands Group (NIG) that serves all of Japan, and the European African Australasian Group (EA3G) that serve the rest of the world.
Background on Dr. Saad Y. Jasim
Dr. Jasim is a member of the International Ozone Association Board of Directors, and member of the Board of Director of the IOA-PAG. He served as President of the International Ozone Association-Pan American Group (IOA-PAG) 2010-2011. In 2010, Dr. Jasim served as President of the Ontario Water Works Association (OWWA)-Section of AWWA.
Dr. Jasim introduced Ozone for the drinking water treatment to the City of Windsor in 2001 when he was serving as Director, Water Quality for the Windsor Utilities Commission, Windsor, Ontario, Canada. The City of Windsor received many awards for the “Best Tasting Water” since that time.
Dr. Jasim is a member of Editorial Boards of; Ozone Science & Engineering Journal-Taylor and Francis, and the Journal of Water Process Engineering- Elsevier.
Received many prestigious awards such as; the 2016 George Warren Fuller Award-OWWA/AWWA, the 2011 Harvey Rosen Award-International Ozone Association, 2008 Emerald Award-Ontario Ministry of Environment, 2004 Engineer of the Year Award-Professional Engineers Ontario.
Dr. Jasim serves as Adjunct Professor at the University of Windsor, Windsor, Ontario, since 1996.
