The City is pleased to announce that it will take ownership and operation of the local water utility on October 30, 2015. EPCOR and the City have now received regulatory approvals from Fraser Health Authority and the B.C. Comptroller of Water Rights and the consent of the City of Surrey.
This is the final step in the City’s acquisition of the local water utility. While the City has always viewed EPCOR as a prudent owner and operator, the City’s desire to purchase the utility assets arose out of an interest by the City Council and Administration to own its water assets and have the economic benefits go to White Rock and its residents.
The City held a community forum in October to assist residents and businesses through the transition process. There was also an opportunity to gather community feedback on various options around billing and total water quality management project.
