The Great British Columbia ShakeOut is scheduled for:
Date: Thursday 16 October 2014
Time: 10:16 am.
This is the annual earthquake drill designed to raise awareness on what to do during an earthquake and general emergency preparedness.
Participating in the drill is encouraged whether it is by practicing “Drop, Cover and Hold on” or reviewing your surroundings, what you would do and identifying any potential hazards.
For Your Home
Be prepared to be self-sufficient for at least 72 hours. In an emergency you will need basic supplies, so make an emergency kit today. Make sure your kit is easy to carry and everyone in the household knows where it is. Keep it in a backpack, duffle bag or suitcase with wheels and in an easy-to-reach place such as your front-hall closet. You may need to get by without power or tap water. Check your kit once a year to ensure contents are up to date. Re-stock as needed. Visit www.GetPrepared.ca for more information.
Currently over 660,000 British Columbians have registered for the drill, and with the other states and countries participating this annual earthquake drill continues to grow in building awareness.
