Pier Banner Usage Policy 178
Council approved a Pier Banner Usage Policy to regulate banner displays on the Pier. This policy prioritizes Category A events – city-produced initiatives that engage the community – and Category B events, provided they do not conflict with the promotion of Category A activities.
Interim Housing Needs Assessment and Report
Council received a report on the City’s Interim Housing Needs Assessment and Report. In accordance with Bill 44, all local governments are required to complete an Interim Housing Needs Report by January 1, 2025.
Council approved the proposed amendments to the 2021 Housing Needs Report and endorsed the Interim Housing Needs Report, which will be placed on the City’s website.
Council also directed that a letter be sent to the Province to voice their concerns and the potential impact these targets will have on the City of White Rock.
2025 Cost-Share Funding Agreements for Transportation-Related Projects
Council received a corporate report on Cost-Share Funding Agreements for Transportation Related Projects for 2025. Council endorsed the submission of the Buena Vista – Johnston to Best Bike Path and the Finlay/Columbia Intersection Improvement projects as part of the 2025 TransLink Cost-Share Programs.
Council:
- Endorsed the submission of the Buena Vista – Johnston to Best Bike Path project as part of the 2024/2025 BC Active Transportation Infrastructure Grant Program
- Confirmed that the Buena Vista – Johnston to Best Bike Path project was a municipal priority, intended to be completed by March 2027; and,
- Confirmed that funding for the Buena Vista – Johnston to Best Bike Path was available and supported in the 2024 Consolidated Five-Year Financial Plan and affirmed that the project was “shovel ready” according to the application form.
Committee Recommendations: Accessibility Advisory Committee
Council supported a recommendation from the Accessibility Advisory Committee supporting the proposed Columbia Avenue and Finlay Street intersection improvements. View the concept drawing (PDF).
