The City of White Rock’s annual Water Main Flushing Program takes place from October to December 15. Water main flushing is a common process to maintain a City's water distribution pipe system and increases the quality of the water inside the pipe system.
The 2023 Flushing Program will be carried out between 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday, with the timing subject to change. Signage will be posted when flushing is taking place on your City block.
The Annual Flushing Program is intended to clean water distribution pipes of sediments that build up over time and improve water quality. This is accomplished by flushing fire hydrants to force water at high velocities through the system.
During flushing, residents may experience a drop in water pressure or discolouration of their water when flushing occurs in their area. Any disruption should be brief and only occur while mains in the area are being flushed. If you experience a drop in water pressure or loss of water for more than three hours, please call the City’s Engineering & Municipal Operations department at 604-541-2181.
