Fireworks are not allowed to be sold or discharged within the City of White Rock at any time without a permit according to Fireworks By-law 2005 No. 1776.
Safety Tips for Trick or Treaters:
- If your kids go trick-or-treating after dusk, make sure they have a flashlight and are wearing retro reflective material. Dress children in warm, light coloured clothing so that they may be easily seen when crossing the street.
- Rather than buying a mask, use makeup to decorate children. That way, they can see more easily.
- Avoid tricks that could cause bodily injury, destroy property or cause a fire.
- Do not purchase Halloween costumes and other items which are not marked “Flameproof” or “Flame-Retardant.”
- Remind children to skip houses that are not well-lit.
- Check candy before allowing kids to eat it.
Safety Tips for Home Owners:
- Many people enjoy transforming their homes into eerie scenes. Be sure to keep the path leading up to your door free of obstacles for the little ones, especially those with masks and limited vision.
- Keep pets indoors on Halloween to protect them from hazards and to protect 'trick or treaters'.
- Before you light those candles in your pumpkin, consider using safety glow sticks. Nothing says creepy like a glowing jack-o-lantern.
Safety Tips for Drivers:
- Expect the unexpected: slow down, look for pedestrians. The chances of getting into a serious or fatal collision are multiplied when there are lots of kids and teens out on the streets.
- Excited kids about: Remember that there will be more foot traffic on Halloween night and that most of it will be excited young children so leave yourself extra time to navigate residential streets.
