The annual tradition of jumping into the cold waters of Semiahmoo Bay on New Year’s Day is taking a different turn during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The annual Polar Bear Plunge, like so many events in 2020, is going virtual instead of in-person. The Rotary Club is asking participants to post pictures of themselves taking the cold plunge in the shower, the hot tub, or any other water source, on social media for a chance to win one of 21 prizes.
Enjoy additional virtual events this holiday season at whiterockcity.ca/winterinwhiterock. The City has a listing of events to enjoy safely at home or with COVID-19 safety plans in place. Share your winter fun with #WinterInWhiteRock.

Mayor Darryl Walker
“Like so many people, I look forward to the New Year’s tradition of jumping into the water in a creative costume and having some fun. This year, we need to follow health orders, to stay apart and to use those social media outlets to share the event together. Just imagine how great the Polar Plunge of 2022 will be.”
