The City of White Rock will reopen two-way traffic on Marine Drive on Aug. 12, more than two months after temporarily closing the westbound lane of traffic to help restaurants by expanding patio space.
The temporary closure of the north lane from Vidal Street to Maple Street began June 7. Council voted in May to approve the temporary lane closure and to reopen Marine Drive to two-way traffic once restaurants could return to full capacity indoors.
B.C. entered Stage 3 of its Restart Plan on July 1, which allows restaurants, bars, pubs and nightclubs to operate at 100-per-cent capacity.
The temporary lane closure will be in place until Aug. 11. The barriers will be removed that evening and two-way traffic will return on Aug. 12.
The City will publish a survey at talkwhiterock.ca to invite input from residents and businesses regarding the temporary lane closure.
