As weather forecasters predict below-zero temperatures for the Lower Mainland this week, the City of White Rock is ready for snow.
White Rock has a snow and ice control plan in place and has road salt ready to use at the City’s works yard—ordering extra salt, just in case. Brining operations begin on Nov. 27 across all of White Rock.
The City has a plan that prioritizes routes and shows White Rock’s road closures, which are necessary for public safety. The City of White Rock manages more than 80 kilometre of roadways, and aims to maintain key travel routes, which are vital for transportation and for emergency vehicle access.
The City of White Rock’s snow and ice equipment includes:
- Large dump truck with plow and spreader
- Two mini-dump trucks with plow and spreader
- One truck with a brine unit
- Two one-tonne trucks with plows and spreaders for City properties

White Rock Mayor Darryl Walker
“City staff do a great job of planning for and responding to winter conditions. I want to remind people that when snow does come, if you must travel, travel carefully, whether you’re on foot or in a vehicle.
Also, please check on vulnerable neighbours and clear the walkway in front of your house, if you’re able.”
