The City of White Rock has received calls from residents who have been approached by sales agents who ask to come into their homes to test their water. The agents give the impression that they're from the City.
The City conducts ongoing water quality tests and all data is available on our Water Quality page. If you have questions and concerns about your water, contact the City at water@whiterockcity.ca or 604-541-2181.
It is important that you know who is at your door before you let someone enter. This is even more important during the COVID-19 pandemic, when we are urged by the Provincial Health Officer to have only family in our homes.
The RCMP has some helpful information on home security in this RCMP brochure.
Keeping yourself safe at home: Before you open the door to a stranger, verify who is there by using a peephole or verbally confirming the identity of the individual.
Be suspicious of an unexpected salesperson or repair company – they could be a potential burglar checking your possessions and security measures.
Always ask for identification, and if needed call the company to confirm the identity of the individual.
Trust your instincts. If you don’t feel comfortable opening the door for a particular person – don’t. If in an apartment building, do not let unknown individuals into your building.
