The City of White Rock is experiencing record water consumption with the ongoing warm weather and would like to remind residents that Stage 1 outdoor water restrictions are in effect.
The lawn watering regulations are in place to help significantly reduce water use during drier months and support sustainable water practices. Our water use can increase by 50% in summer, largely due to lawn watering and other outdoor uses. One hour a week is all you need for a healthy lawn.
Please follow the permitted sprinkling regulations noted below:
Residential lawn sprinkling is permitted between 4 a.m. to 9.a.m.:
- Even numbered addresses: Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday.
- Odd numbered addresses: Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday.
Note: multi-family dwellings are considered even or odd according to the building number, not the unit number.
Non-residential lawn sprinkling is permitted:
- Even numbered addresses can use sprinklers between 1 a.m. - 6 a.m. on Monday and Wednesday, and 4 a.m. - 9 a.m. on Friday.
- Odd numbered addresses can use sprinklers between 1 a.m. - 6 a.m. on Tuesday and Thursday, and 4 a.m. - 9 a.m. on Friday
These restrictions apply if using a sprinkler to lawns; the regulations do not apply to hand watering of gardens, shrubs, trees, and flower beds.
Please make every effort to conserve water, and do not wash driveways or roofs. When washing a boat or vehicle, water hoses must be equipped with an automatic shut-off device.
