As part of National Victims and Survivors of Crime Week, there will be a dedication ceremony for the new Memorial Garden, created in honour of victims and survivors of crime and their loved ones.
The dedication ceremony will take place on Monday, May 15 at 10 a.m. at the White Rock RCMP Detachment with City dignitaries, victims and survivors of crime and their families, RCMP Victim Services and RCMP Staff.
Following an official welcome from City of White Rock Mayor, Megan Knight, there will be an opportunity to hear from victims and their families of the impact of crime has forever changed their lives.
The Memorial Garden Project features a mix of lavender plants and complementary purple flowers as purple is the symbol for victims of crime.
This project is a collaborative effort between White Rock RCMP Victim Services, the City of White Rock, and the Department of Justice Canada, to remember, honor and bring awareness to victims and survivors of crime. “To those who died, we remember; to those who survived we hear you.”
