A trial program will allow dogs on the White Rock promenade starting October 1, 2019 until March 31, 2020. Until then, dogs are NOT ALLOWED on White Rock’s waterfront promenade.
At the February 11, 2019 regular Council meeting, City Council approved “Bylaw 2282 - Animal Control and Licensing Bylaw, 2012, No. 1959, Amendment 2, 2019, No. 2282” which will allow dogs on the promenade in the off-season (starting 2019, October 1 – March 31). The City appreciates the enthusiasm to bring dogs onto the promenade, but until the trial period begins, please respect the current bylaw, and do not bring your dog onto the promenade.
Please note that although starting October 1, 2019, dogs will be allowed on the promenade during the off-season, dogs are prohibited from the White Rock Pier at all times.

Where can I take my dog in White Rock?
At the White Rock off-leash dog park! In Ruth Johnson Park, there is a fenced-in area where dogs are permitted off-leash and can enjoy the large green space.
Are dogs allowed in City Parks?
Yes, dogs are allowed in most City Parks but must be leashed at all times. If a dog is restricted at the park, there will be a clearly marked sign stating that dogs are not allowed. The City asks that you please be a responsible pet owner and clean up after your pet.
