The City of White Rock’s Dead End Water Main Flushing Program takes place Monday, April 22 to Monday, April 29, with City crews flushing from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. City signage will be posted on the street when flushing takes place in the area.
Dead end water mains occur at the end of a pipe when it does not loop back into the system. As these water mains have very low flows it is important to flush these out multiple times per year to maintain the City’s water system. This will improve water quality and prevent future water quality issues.
As a result of water main flushing, residents may notice temporary changes in water pressure. While some discolouration or sediment in the water may occur, it is a temporary condition and is not a health hazard. Residents will have water during the flushing operations; however, they are advised to not open their taps when crews are working in your area to avoid drawing sediments into their pipes.
