The City of White Rock is calling on community members to volunteer as a Warming Centre Park Ambassador this winter. Volunteers in this program will work in pairs to help keep the area near the Daytime Warming Centre in Centennial Park clean, identify potential safety hazards, and help to notify the proper authorities if someone is in need of assistance.
Volunteer ambassadors are expected to commit to one two-hour shift per week and will not patrol after dark. Shifts are available in the morning and afternoon.
Volunteers will undergo training before the Warming Centre opens for the season, learning the patrol areas, reporting procedures, and other essential duties. Safety vests, lanyards, and ID cards will be provided to all Ambassadors, ensuring they are easily identifiable while on duty.
Qualifications:
- Must be 19 years or older
- Compassionate and empathetic approach toward individuals experiencing hardship
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work well in a team setting
- Ability to walk up to two kilometers
How to Apply:
- Complete the City’s online application form here: Volunteer with the City of White Rock
- Indicate “Warming Centre” as your area of interest.
- Following application, the Warming Centre Volunteer Coordinator will reach out to schedule a training date and assign shifts.
