The City of White Rock’s annual Water Main Flushing Program takes place from Wednesday, Oct. 19 through to Wednesday, Nov. 30. Water main flushing is a common process to maintain a City's water distribution pipe system, it also increases the quality of the water inside the pipe system.
During flushing, residents may experience a drop in water pressure or discolouration of their water when flushing occurs in their area. Any disruption should be brief and only occur while mains in the area are being flushed.
The 2022 Flushing Program will be carried out between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday, with the timing subject to change. Signage will be posted when flushing is taking place on your City block. If you experience a drop in water pressure or loss of water for more than three hours, please call the City’s Municipal Operations department at 604-541-2181.
The Annual Flushing Program is intended to clean water distribution pipes of sediments that build up over time and improve water quality. This is accomplished by flushing water at high velocities through fire hydrants to force water through the system.
