There will be sanitary sewer smoke testing November 18 until November 22 from 7:30 a.m. till 5:30 p.m. in the following areas:
- East of Finlay St, south of Pacific Ave, west of Stayte Rd and north of Marine Dr
- East of Finlay St, south of Buena Vista Ave, west of Lee St and north of Pacific Ave
Smoke testing is a proven method to identify potential leaks, cross connections or other concerns in the sewer system. The process involves isolating a section of sanitary sewer and introducing a non-toxic, no-residue vapor into the system. The surrounding area is monitored and inspected for points of leakage in the underground system. Vapor should not enter your residence unless a leak is present due to improper or damaged plumbing.
The intention is to identify places where sanitary sewage enters the storm sewer system so this can be remediated, thereby preventing contamination of waters receiving storm drainage.
You can expect to see vehicles and crews with the City’s contractor, Dougness Holdings working in your area accessing the sewer manholes within the boulevard and roadway. Dougness Holdings will not be entering your property unless you have a utility right-of-way or easement. If this is required, you will be contacted with further information.
